About Our Team
Raise it Up was founded in 2012 by a team of dreamers with over 10 years of combined experience in complex finance transactions.
Raise it Up’s founders know first-hand that crowdfunding is a powerful tool because they have supported several awesome projects, each of which met its funding goal using crowdfunding including:
- A documentary exploring hip-hop in academia and following noted producer 9th Wonder in his first year as a Harvard Research Fellow (raised over $25k);
- New equipment for an independent letterpress print shop run by a female entrepreneur (raised over $15k);
- A multimedia project by artist Fahamu Pecou exploring representations of black males in mainstream media (Raised over $5.5k); and
- An annual hip-hop festival in Brooklyn which features a family day, educational opportunities, and an awesome celebration of hip-hop music and culture (raised over $15k).
The experience and of funding these projects created the motivation to make Raise it Up the best crowdfunding platform for members of emerging communities of change. Raise it Up is operated by people who are equally as passionate about the power of crowdfunding as they are about growing change in our communities.
